If you are looking for a ProjectX trade copier in 2026, the first thing to know is that ProjectX is no longer a multi-firm platform. It closed to third parties on 28 February 2026 and now runs as TopstepX, exclusively for Topstep. Visit projectx.com today and it redirects to Topstep's own site. So the answer depends entirely on which firm you actually trade with, and this guide covers what each one gives you now and what can copy trades into it.

TL;DR

ProjectX stopped selling new third-party accounts on 15 January 2026 and migrated the rest off on 28 February 2026. Topstep is the only firm still on it, as TopstepX, and a copier reaches it through the TopstepX API. Every other firm rebuilt on Tradovate or Rithmic, which means NinjaTrader is now the connection most copiers use. No futures prop firm gives you MetaTrader 5, so "Lucid MT5" and "Tradeify MT5" have no version that exists. The decision that actually determines whether you can copy or automate is the broker connection you pick at checkout, and at most firms you cannot change it without buying a new account.

What happened to ProjectX

ProjectX Trading built the platform and API that a large slice of the futures prop industry ran on. Through 2025 you could find it behind Topstep, Lucid Trading, Tradeify, Alpha Futures, Goat Funded Futures, Blue Guardian, E8, Fxify, Aqua Futures, Top One and others. One integration reached a dozen firms, which is exactly why tool builders liked it.

That ended on a published timeline:

Date What happened
15 January 2026 Last day to open or purchase a ProjectX account at a third-party firm, including evaluations and resets
28 February 2026 All remaining active ProjectX accounts migrated to other platforms. ProjectX discontinued for everyone except Topstep.

The clearest evidence is the company's own front door. As of today, projectx.com returns a 301 redirect straight to topstep.com/topstepx. The marketing site for the platform is now a Topstep page. Two subdomains are still live and still matter, because Topstep traders use them: dashboard.projectx.com for the API subscription and billing, and gateway.docs.projectx.com for the API documentation.

This is worth stating plainly because a lot of currently ranking content has not caught up. It is easy to find articles published under a 2026 date listing six or seven prop firms that "support ProjectX", naming firms that migrated off it months ago. If you are comparing firms on the basis of platform support, check the firm's own platform page rather than a roundup.

Is there still a ProjectX trade copier?

Yes, but only in one direction that matters: into Topstep, through the TopstepX API.

The API itself is unchanged in shape. It is the same ProjectX Gateway REST API, still documented at gateway.docs.projectx.com, still authenticating with a username and an API key. Copiers that supported ProjectX generally kept working with Topstep and lost every other firm overnight.

Two practical notes if you are setting this up:

  • API access is a paid add-on. It is billed through the ProjectX Dashboard, separately from your Topstep subscription, at $29 per month or $14.50 with the promo code topstep. The charge shows on your statement as Sim2Funded Solutions.
  • Subscribing is not the same as linking. After you subscribe in the ProjectX Dashboard you must also go to TopstepX, open Settings, then the API tab, and add the link under ProjectX Linking. Skip it and generating a key fails with User lacks subscription.

The full walkthrough, including the alert side and the symbol mapping traps, is in the TopstepX alerts and automation guide.

Where every former ProjectX firm went

Almost everyone landed on Tradovate, Rithmic, or both. That single fact reshaped what a copier needs to speak, because Tradovate and NinjaTrader are the same company and most Tradovate firms also expose NinjaTrader.

Firm Was Now
Topstep ProjectX TopstepX, the only firm still on the platform
Lucid Trading ProjectX Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView on CQG, plus a Rithmic platform stack
Tradeify ProjectX Tradovate, Rithmic via Tradesea, or WealthCharts, chosen at checkout
Alpha Futures ProjectX Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Quantower, TradingView and others
Goat Funded Futures ProjectX Tradovate and NinjaTrader
Blue Guardian Futures ProjectX Tradovate
E8 Futures ProjectX Tradovate
Fxify Futures ProjectX Tradovate
Aqua Futures ProjectX Tradovate
Top One Futures ProjectX Tradovate

Firm platform line-ups move, so treat this as a starting point and confirm on the firm's own platform page before you buy. The direction of travel is not in doubt though: the industry consolidated onto Tradovate and Rithmic.

Does Lucid Trading support MT5?

No. Lucid's own supported platforms page lists twelve platforms and MetaTrader 5 is not among them. They split across two data feeds:

  • CQG: NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView
  • Rithmic: Quantower, Sierra Chart, MotiveWave, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro, MultiCharts, Tradesea

If you found this page searching for "Lucid MT5", the practical answer is that NinjaTrader is the closest thing to what you want. It is the connection that copy trading and automation tools actually support at Lucid, and it sits on the CQG side alongside Tradovate and TradingView.

Does Tradeify support MT5?

No, and neither does any other futures prop firm. Tradeify's platform line-up is Tradovate Web and Mobile, WealthCharts, Tradesea, Sierra Chart, Quantower, TradingView through the Tradovate add-on, and NinjaTrader at the Elite Live stage.

Again, if you were searching for "Tradeify MT5" because you want to automate or copy, NinjaTrader or Tradovate is the answer, and which of them you can have depends on the next section.

Why no futures prop firm gives you MetaTrader 5

This trips up a lot of traders arriving from forex, so it is worth one paragraph. MetaTrader 5 is a retail broker platform. US futures execution runs through clearing infrastructure like CQG, Rithmic and Tradovate, and the CME-facing prop firms build on those. MT5 does exist in the prop world, but on the CFD side, at firms offering synthetic index or forex products rather than genuine CME contracts.

That distinction matters if you are running one strategy across several accounts, because it means a futures funded account and an MT5 broker account are two different ecosystems that will not talk to each other on their own. Bridging them is a copier's job, and it is covered further down.

The checkout decision that locks your platform

Here is the part that almost nothing else written about these firms makes clear, and it is more consequential than any rule in the FAQ.

At several firms, the broker connection is chosen when you buy the account and cannot be changed afterwards. Tradeify states it directly: if you pick Tradesea at checkout, you cannot switch to Tradovate Web without buying a new account, because the data routing and order flow are different. All three connections cost the same, so there is no price signal nudging you toward the right one, and nothing at checkout tells you that this click decides whether automation is possible.

Connection Typical platforms Copier and automation reach
Tradovate Tradovate Web and Mobile, NinjaTrader, TradingView Best. NinjaTrader is the most widely supported target for copiers.
Rithmic Quantower, Sierra Chart, Tradesea, MultiCharts, Bookmap, ATAS Mixed. Strong charting, but far fewer copiers target these platforms.
WealthCharts WealthCharts only Weakest. A closed environment with no third-party copier route.
TopstepX TopstepX web and mobile Good, through the documented API, but it is a paid add-on.

The rule of thumb: if you intend to copy trades or run automation, pick the connection that gets you NinjaTrader. At most firms that is Tradovate. Check whether NinjaTrader is available at the account stage you are buying, because at Tradeify it appears only at the Elite Live stage.

How to copy trades between Topstep accounts now

This is the most common reason people search for a ProjectX copier, and it still works. Once you hold API access, a copier authenticates once and can address every eligible account on your profile, specifying the target account per order. One subscription and one key cover them all, so running four accounts does not mean paying four times.

The setup in Trade Dispensary is short. Add TopstepX as a destination account with your username, your API key, and the account ID left blank to auto-detect. Use Test Connection before anything else, because it authenticates and reports the account it found, which catches an unlinked subscription or a mistyped key immediately. Then add a second destination for the second account, and point one source at both.

The thing to get right is not the connection, it is the sizing. Topstep counts micros against your contract limit at ten to one, so a $50,000 account allows 5 minis or 50 micros, $100,000 allows 10 or 100, and $150,000 allows 15 or 150. If you copy a two-contract mini trade into a smaller account with a multiplier that pushes it over, the copy breaches a limit rather than simply being rejected. Set the multiplier against the smallest account in the group.

Copying between ecosystems

Because the industry now spans Tradovate, Rithmic, TopstepX and retail MT5, most traders running more than one account are running across ecosystems rather than within one. A copier that only speaks one of them is not much use anymore.

Trade Dispensary reads signals from MetaTrader 5, TradingView, NinjaTrader, cTrader, TopstepX and Telegram, and sends them to MetaTrader 5, NinjaTrader, cTrader, TopstepX, DXtrade and Bybit. So the combinations people actually ask for all resolve to something concrete:

  • MT5 to NinjaTrader: your retail broker account drives a funded futures account. Symbol mapping matters here, since your broker's gold symbol and the CME contract are named nothing alike.
  • TopstepX to NinjaTrader: one funded account drives another at a different firm.
  • TradingView to anywhere: a single alert fans out to several accounts at once.
  • Telegram to MT5 or futures: for traders following a signal channel.

Two guides cover the ends of these chains in detail: the NinjaTrader integration guide for the Add-On install and account mapping, and the MT5 copy trading setup guide for the EA side and cross-broker symbol mapping.

The rule that rules out cloud copiers

One more thing to settle before you choose any tool, because it is a rules question rather than a features question.

Topstep's API documentation states that all trading activity must originate from your personal device, and that VPS, VPN and remote server use is prohibited under its Terms of Use. A private server may store data, run research and backtests, keep logs, and receive copies of your own fills and positions. It may not place, modify or cancel orders, and it may not route or relay orders on your behalf. In Topstep's framing, the line is order transmission: your server can watch and record, but it cannot trade.

Read that against how a hosted copier works. A subscription web service receives your signal on its infrastructure and sends the order to your account from its own servers. That is order transmission from a remote machine. If you are evaluating one, ask the vendor in writing where the order is transmitted from.

Software running on your own PC does not have this problem, because the order leaves your machine, from your IP, through your own platform login. That is why Trade Dispensary is a desktop application rather than a hosted service. The broader picture across firms is covered in what prop firms actually permit when copying between accounts and how to copy trades without getting flagged.

None of this is legal advice, rules change, and Topstep is explicit that it does not endorse third-party tools. Read the current terms before connecting anything.

If you still have a ProjectX account configured somewhere

Plenty of traders have an old ProjectX account sitting in a copier, a dashboard or a script, pointing at an endpoint that no longer exists. The symptom is usually an opaque connection or authentication error rather than anything that names the real cause.

Trade Dispensary recognises retired ProjectX firms by name and returns the migration advice instead of a connection error, so an old Lucid, Tradeify, Aqua, Blue Guardian, E8, Fxify, Goat Funded or Top One account tells you where the firm went rather than failing silently. The fix is the same in every case: check which connection your firm gave you when they migrated your account, and if it is Tradovate, set the account up as NinjaTrader instead.

Summary

ProjectX as a shared industry platform is finished. It stopped selling third-party accounts on 15 January 2026, migrated the remainder on 28 February 2026, and now exists as TopstepX for Topstep alone, with projectx.com redirecting to Topstep's site.

If you trade Topstep, a copier reaches you through the TopstepX API, which costs $14.50 a month with the Topstep promo code and needs the ProjectX Dashboard link step completed before a key will generate. If you trade anywhere else, you are on Tradovate or Rithmic now, and NinjaTrader is the connection that gives a copier a way in. Choose it at checkout, because at most firms you cannot change it later. And whichever you pick, keep order transmission on your own machine.

Frequently asked questions

Is ProjectX still available in 2026?

Only through Topstep. ProjectX stopped selling third-party prop firm accounts on 15 January 2026 and migrated all remaining accounts off the platform on 28 February 2026. It now runs exclusively as TopstepX. The clearest confirmation is the company’s own site: projectx.com returns a 301 redirect to topstep.com/topstepx. The dashboard and API documentation subdomains are still live, because Topstep traders still use them.

Which prop firms use ProjectX now?

One: Topstep, under the TopstepX name. Every other firm that ran on ProjectX has moved. Lucid Trading, Tradeify, Alpha Futures, Goat Funded Futures, Blue Guardian, E8, Fxify, Aqua Futures and Top One all rebuilt on Tradovate, Rithmic or both. Any 2026 article listing six or seven firms as ProjectX supported is out of date.

Is there still a ProjectX trade copier?

Yes, for Topstep. The ProjectX Gateway REST API is unchanged and still documented at gateway.docs.projectx.com, so copiers that supported ProjectX generally kept working with Topstep. API access is a paid add-on billed through the ProjectX Dashboard at $29 per month, or $14.50 with the promo code topstep. After subscribing you must also link it in TopstepX under Settings, then the API tab, or key generation fails with a subscription error.

Does Lucid Trading support MetaTrader 5?

No. Lucid’s supported platforms are NinjaTrader, Tradovate and TradingView on the CQG feed, and Quantower, Sierra Chart, MotiveWave, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro, MultiCharts and Tradesea on Rithmic. MetaTrader 5 is not among them. If you are looking for a platform that copy trading and automation tools support, NinjaTrader is the practical answer at Lucid.

Does Tradeify support MetaTrader 5?

No. Tradeify offers Tradovate Web and Mobile, WealthCharts, Tradesea, Sierra Chart, Quantower, TradingView through the Tradovate add-on, and NinjaTrader at the Elite Live stage. There is no MetaTrader 5 option, and no other futures prop firm offers one either.

Why does no futures prop firm offer MetaTrader 5?

MetaTrader 5 is a retail broker platform. US futures execution runs through clearing infrastructure such as CQG, Rithmic and Tradovate, and CME-facing prop firms build on those instead. MT5 does appear in the prop world, but at CFD firms offering synthetic index or forex products rather than genuine CME contracts.

Can you copy trades between two Topstep accounts?

Yes. Once you hold TopstepX API access, a copier authenticates once and can address every eligible account on your profile, naming the target account per order, so one subscription and one key cover all of them. The part to get right is sizing: Topstep counts micros against your contract limit at ten to one, so a $50,000 account allows 5 minis or 50 micros. Set your multiplier against the smallest account in the group.

Can you copy trades from MT5 to NinjaTrader?

Yes, and it is now one of the most common setups, because most former ProjectX firms landed on Tradovate and expose NinjaTrader. Trade Dispensary reads signals from MetaTrader 5, TradingView, NinjaTrader, cTrader, TopstepX and Telegram, and sends them to MetaTrader 5, NinjaTrader, cTrader, TopstepX, DXtrade and Bybit. The detail that matters on this route is symbol mapping, since a retail broker’s gold symbol and the CME contract are named nothing alike.

Can you run a trade copier on a VPS with Topstep?

No. Topstep’s documentation states that all trading activity must originate from your personal device, and that VPS, VPN and remote server use is prohibited under its Terms of Use. A private server may store data, run research and backtests, keep logs and receive copies of your own fills and positions, but it may not place, modify, cancel or relay orders. That rules out hosted copier services, which transmit the order from their own infrastructure. Software running on your own PC does not have this problem. Rules change, so read the current terms before connecting anything.
